Charlie Hinton is an at-home father, who looks after his son Ben. Kim Hinton, his wife, works as an attorney to support the family. Unable to find work, Charlie and a friend named Phil establish Daddy Day Care. As they gain a positive reputation, their enrollment increases. This attracts the attention of a competing day care owner named Ms. Gwyneth Harridan, who attempts to shut them down by notifying social workers. Despite her efforts to sabotage the business, Charlie and Phil are successful. Dan Kubitz informs them that their home is too small to accommodate the number of kids and they must either move the children or find a permanent location in town. They decide to organize a fundraiser in order to raise the funds they need.

Charlie Hinton and Kim Hinton are both unemployed but they have to find a way of supporting their son Ben. With the help of his friend Phil, they open Daddy Day Care in their house. They soon see their enrollment swell, but they also face new regulations and competition from local day care owner Gwyneth Harridan. She tries to shut them down, notifying the social services. But Charlie and Phil fix the problems Kubitz pointed out and reopen Daddy Day Care. They later decide to buy a building for their business, but they must first hold a fundraiser. After a sabotage attempt by Harridan and her hesitating assistant Jennifer, Charlie and Phil raise enough money to buy the building and keep Daddy Day Care thriving.

Daddy Day Care is the kind of movie that Hollywood can churn out in its collective sleep and audiences will enjoy without really waking up. It gives us 20 minutes of setup, 30 minutes for everything to go wrong, and a few minutes at the end to remind us that what really matters in life is family.
